- Long tail present in males and carrying deeply embedded 7 rod-like photophores.

Comments
Males have additional photophores on arms II, III, head, mantle. Tentacular clubs and club and arm sucker structure not unusual.Life History
The two male specimens described by Voss (1962) were mature males (80 and 97 mm ML) with Needham's sac and testis on each side.
Distribution
Type locality is the Gulf of Mexico at 29°11.5'N, 88°07.5'W. The holotype was taken from the stomach of a shark captured in a (bottom?) trawl at 367m.
