Introduction
Mexiclinidium is a moderately sized subgenus with 10 species from Mexico and Guatemala.Characteristics
The antenna has a small stylet, and there are tufts on antennal segments VII-X. There is one temporal seta. The eye is narrow and crescentic. The orbital groove is complete. The elytral striae are complete, not abbreviated. Excluding the marginal, there are 5 or 4 striae. The intercalary ends blindly posteriorly, except in C. halffteri and some C. guatemalenum. Intervals are elevated and costate in most species. The elytral setae are more numerous than in Arctoclinidium. The female has an enlarged pit in sternum IV.
The male has a ventral tooth on the anterior femur, and the proximal tooth of the anterior tibia is present or absent. The base of the anterior tarsus is proximad to the cleaning organ. The calcars are small, the hind one is smaller than the middle one.
